Our project is starting to take form!!
Our project is starting to take form!!
It has begun! It is hard to see because the area is so large but the footprint of the building is being dug, the forms are being fitted for the walls and footings. In our next visit, hopefully we will see the cement!
On September 29, 2016, we had our Groundbreaking ceremony. There was an excellent turnout with News Channel 6, New York State Assemblyman James Todesco, and Town of Halfmoon Supervisor Kevin Tollinsen in attendance.
With this milestone finished, we are ready to begin the real work of constructing our building. Stay tuned for updates!
Today, at our new site, we watched the big construction machines feeding the trees they removed through the wood chipper. Although we are sad to have had to remove so much greenery, we are excited about all the progress. There are still more to be removed but we are loving all the progress. We hope to one day be able to raise some money and put some trees back on to the property.
We are super excited about the progress. Even though the road is long, we are thrilled to be making progress. Trying to capture the true enormity of the project through pictures is impossible. There are so many hills of tree debris and shifted earth that it is like exploring a new land!
Knowing that the site is far too dangerous for a field trip, we took many pictures of the huge trucks knowing how much the kids would have loved to see them!
What are your thoughts?
This week our contractors, JAG, are making progress on clearing out the foliage where our new facility will be. The piles of dirt have been moved and the debris from the pre-existing structure has been cleared. They are working hard to get the site ready for our Ground Breaking ceremony, tentatively scheduled for the end of September!
Now that we have wrapped up closing, we have started to move earth. Our contractors have town down the small structure and investigated some hidden treasures on the property.
Our next step will be to clear out some vegetation and level the ground (as well as fill in the basement to the shed that has been knocked down).
The Newmeadow new building project is located at 23 Sitterly Road, Clifton Park, New York. Plans include the construction of a 20,000 ft2 state-of-the-art facility geared toward services for preschool age children and their families. The school will continue its long tradition of readying children for kindergarten and life beyond. This includes typically developing children looking for an accelerated path to kindergarten readiness as well as meeting the kindergarten readiness needs of children with autism and other developmental disabilities.
Presently the school is working through the town planning process with the town of Halfmoon as it establishes its site plans, floor plans, and structural plans. Additional activities include conventional financing through a local bank and an aggressive Capital Campaign program. Goals for the Capital Campaign include raising $250,000 to go towards the school’s equity contribution to the project. Presently the school has raised approximately $65,000 towards that goal. Fundraising plans include a spring/summer barbeque and family fun day, a fall Gala to be held at Saratoga National Golf Club, and a variety of other fundraising events and activities.
Families, friends, and the autism community in general are invited to participate in this noble cause by contributing to the Capital Campaign effort. All are invited to visit the school to see the wonderful work being done on behalf of all children including those with autism and other developmental disabilities. Come tour and sit with the executive director to learn more about plans for the new facility including viewing of drawings and renderings in process.
